Job Function

 

Customer application assistance for new and existing products. This position serves as a technical liaison between the customer and the factory.  Applications Engineering coordinates new product introductions, modifications to new and existing products, and the customer technical service function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.       Manages and coordinates new product introduction into the market working closely with the Sales team and key customers.

2.       Coordinates modifications to existing and new products, form-fitting them to customer requirements.

3.       Manages the technical service interface with the customer; handles customer technical requests; answers technically based customer complaints; and serves as the technical resource for the customer.

4.       Designs, develops, and coordinates applications specific testing above and beyond standard quality control testing for the products as required to meet customer requirements, to provide superior products to the market, and to service the product development function.  In this function the Applications Engineer coordinates the use of both internal and external laboratories in order to provide the required testing service.

5.       As required, provides technical and managerial oversight to for programs involving new materials or systems development.

6.       Creates pilot scale capabilities for developing process to support customer applications as well as new product development.

7.       Supports the marketing function through technical interactions with existing and prospective customers, assists marketing in setting market, product, and project requirements.

8.       Plans and coordinates training activities for technicians and manufacturing personnel as required.

9.    Performs related duties as assigned.

 

Skill Requirements

 

A professional or academic background in the field of electronic engineering, with particular emphasis on passive components. Relevant experience in new product development, materials characterization, and resistor/capacitor/inductor manufacturing. Minimum 3 years relevant experience in direct dealing with customers on a technical level.
